ISRI’s commodity roundtables offer new slate of experts, with focus on next boom market

As scrap recyclers and brokers continue to seek new outlets for recycled commodities, market participants are increasingly interested in where demand will come from next. To meet that need, the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries' (ISRI) 2019 Commodity Roundtables Forum will offer fresh new perspectives and insights on the commodity markets and examine "the next boom market." The annual event which attracts processors, brokers, traders, and other scrap recycling professionals, will take place this year from September 11-13 in Chicago.

"Given today's rapidly shifting trade landscape, scrap recyclers and brokers increasingly need to identify new sources of demand and end markets for their materials," said Joe Pickard, ISRI's chief economist and director of commodities. "This year's focus on boom markets will provide expert insights on where those growth markets are going to be, including the potential for more demand here in North America. In addition, we have brought in a number of new speakers to offer fresh and differing views."

This year's agenda includes a special topic roundtable, "The Next Boom Market." As China has significantly restricted its flow of scrap imports, there has been more of a focus on other Asian markets. But there is tremendous growth potential in other regions of the world. A panel of experts will identify and discuss where the greatest opportunities for scrap market growth.

In addition, commodity specific roundtables will be held for ferrous, copper, nickel/stainless, and aluminum. Each roundtable features highly-qualified experts in their field, including (additional speakers to come):
