For more than 90 years, Caterpillar Inc. has been making sustainable progress possible and driving positive change on every continent. Customers turn to Caterpillar to help them develop infrastructure, energy and natural resource assets. With 2016 sales and revenues of $38.537 billion, Caterpillar is the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. The company principally operates through its three product segments - Construction Industries, Resource Industries and Energy & Transportation - and also provides financing and related services through its Financial Products segment
Cat multi-processors feature quick-change jaws, greater cutting/crushing forces, increased speed, durable design
Three new Cat MP332, MP345 and MP365 models are heavy-duty, high-production tools that accept multiple interchangeable jaws for taking on a variety of specialized demolition tasks. The new models, compared with previous models, can cycle 50 percent faster and generate up to 19 percent greater cutting/crushing forces. An innovative locking system enables a single operator to typically change jaw types in 15 minutes or less, using only standard hand tools. An included stand securely and stably holds unused jaw sets.
- Concrete Cutter: outer jaw cracks concrete, inner jaw shears steel
- Demolition: cracks thick concrete structures
- Pulverizer: crushes concrete, separates rebar
- Shear: cuts structural steel, pipe, cable
- Tank Shear: cleanly cuts tanks or plate steel at right angle on three sides
- Universal: cuts steel and crushes concrete
New options for Cat 918M Compact Wheel Loader include high-lift loader linkage, fusion coupler, guarding, larger tires
Cat machines, engines, generator sets and work tools will soon have a new look. Caterpillar is replacing the current "Power Edge" trade dress (Cat trademark on a black background accented with a diagonal red bar) with a fresh new graphic design called "Cat Modern Hex." The Cat Modern Hex design combines the traditional Cat trademark and product model names with a bold, three-dimensional red hexagon and grille pattern. The red color is a throwback to the graphics used on the company's very first crawler tractors in 1925.
Demo of Cat material handler provides SA Recycling with opportunity to make the right equipment investment for feeder yards
SA Recycling operates over 70 scrap metal recycling yards in the U.S., including close to two dozen ferrous shredder operations. The company, started in Orange, California, has since grown as far north as Fresno, and east to Arizona and Texas. More recently, the company expanded to the U.S. southeast, into Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Originally, SA Recycling was Adams Steel; they merged with Sims about ten years ago to form "SA," which stands for Sims-Adams.
The new Cat GSH420 and GSH520 orange-peel grapples, replacing the GSH15B Series grapples, are designed for a wide range of applications, including handling shredded scrap, such as long structural beams and car bodies; handling rocks at construction sites; and waste at recycling and transfer stations. The performance and efficiency of the new Cat grapples help waste-handling operations, in particular, meet the challenges of increased environmental regulation, growing pressure to recycle a mix of materials, and stringent budgets.
The new Cat S2000/S3000 Series mobile shears, designed for hydraulic excavators working in scrap and demolition applications, feature optimum force-to-weight ratios that yield faster cycle times and more cuts per hour, compared with predecessor models. Manufactured from alloy steel that has both superior yield- and tensile-strength properties, as well as substantially greater hardness ratings than T1-type steel, the new S2000/S3000 Series shears are engineered for long, productive service.
At this week's ISRI 2018 conference in Las Vegas, Caterpillar displayed their latest material handler, model MH 3026, a 966 M model wheel loader, and a model 272D (two-speed) XHP skid-steer loader, all outfitted specifically for scrap and recycling, along with the latest grapples and shears for scrap applications.
The new range of Cat® wheel material handlers (MH3022, MH3024, MH3026) maintains the Caterpillar purpose-built philosophy for these machines, while reflecting engineering refinements that tailor them more precisely to specific industrial applications. Further improvements for these 2018 models include features that support rapid return-on-investment and enhance overall performance, versatility, and safety.
