At WasteExpo 2023, TOMRA will display a revamped AUTOSORT demonstration unit and the company's latest sorting advancements. In addition, the exhibit will highlight its deep-learning-based GAIN technology and Insight add-on technologies for AUTOSORT.
GAIN technology leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to make it possible to sort objects based on their form and texture which could not be separated with conventional technology. The AI's deep learning technology analyzes images and data to enable the sorting unit to perform tasks more effectively over time and offers advantages for the waste management and recycling industries.
TOMRA has pioneered deep learning with GAIN for wood sorting applications, creating clean wood chip fractions and differentiating between non-processed wood (wood A) and processed wood (wood B) and recovering MDF. Used in combination with AUTOSORT, GAIN also has the capability to purify post-consumer polyethylene (PE) streams by removing PE-silicone cartridges and non-PE objects. Team members will also give insight into more applications to follow.
With TOMRA Insight, AUTOSORT is turned into a connected source of information. Insight securely collects near-real-time processing data in the cloud and turns it into actionable information through a web interface. By providing digital metrics such as throughput, material, and size distribution; acceptance and rejection rates; and other data metrics, TOMRA Insight gives equipment recyclers operating information necessary to optimize sorting performance.
AUTOSORT works best across a range of material sorting applications, including single stream, municipal solid waste (MSW), and commercial and industrial waste. AUTOSORT brings together multiple different sensors to deliver ideal sorting accuracy across all target fractions.
TOMRA will be at booth #5428 during WasteExpo 2023.
