European Plastics Recycling show rescheduled for March, 2016
Organizers of the Plastics Recycling Show Europe exhibition and conference, which had to be postponed in November due to a security alert in Brussels, have announced that the event has been rescheduled to take place on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 March 2016 at the new venue of Brussels Expo.
As before, the event is co-located with the Working Groups sessions of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) which will be exceptionally open to the public. The Plastics Recycling Show will feature a Pan-European free-to-attend exhibition and a conference designed specifically for plastics recycling professionals. More than 65 companies and organizations are due to showcase the latest advances in European plastics recycling at the event’s exhibition. The conference will examine a wide range of industry themes including the economics of plastics recycling, the regulatory background, materials, processing, technology and innovation. Working group chairman of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) will also lead conference sessions focusing on key plastic materials, specifically PET, PVC, HDPE, LDPE and mixed plastics.

The Plastics Recycling Show brings together key players from the plastics and recycling sectors to showcase innovative technology, share best practice, network and do business. A broad cross section of the industry will be represented at the event including plastics recycling machinery and equipment suppliers, plastic material suppliers and compounders, pre-processors, plastics recyclers, waste management specialists and industry associations.
Industry body Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE) is strongly supporting the exhibition and is organizing the conference in conjunction with Plastics Recycling Show Europe organizers Crain Communications.
The release of the EU circular economy package makes it a must to attend such an event in Brussels in order to showcase the real potential of plastics recycling in Europe! The PRS Europe initiative will become a reference in our business and I would like to invite all interested parties with an interest in developing our markets to attend the event in March 2016, said Ton Emans, PRE President.
The event is organized in association with Polymer Comply Europe, a service provider for the plastics industry specialized in EU legislation. It is also supported by EPRO, the European Association of Plastics Recycling & Recovery Organisations, the Pan-European partnership of organizations committed to increasing efficient plastics recycling and recovery. Other industry bodies supporting the event include European Plastics Converters, Petcore Europe, Recovinyl, PlasticsEurope, Federplast, FEBEM-FEGE and Vinyl Plus.
Traditionally, waste management companies have operated using a simple "management of waste" approach to operating a MRF. Throughput targets and continuous operation (minimal downtime) were the main driving forces. The industry has changed however, and the focus moving forward is now on optimizing system performance and reliability, in conjunction with increasing recycling rates and a drive for a "greener" and more sustainable tomorrow.
When considering the addition of, or upgrade to, an "intelligent" MRF, for municipalities or private operators, the main factors should always be the client's (operator) current requirements, and evolving market needs, which include throughput, reliability, output quality, and adaptability. Equally important is a full understanding of what is really expected from any proposed system. Having an engaged and focused mindset for the project with the client from the beginning, will impact and drive the entire design process. This then impacts the overall project result, through to the productive, efficient, ongoing operation of the facility itself.
