CIRRUS Optical Sorter

CIRRUS Optical Sorter

MSS Inc, has introduced a new high-resolution near-infrared (NIR), colour and metal sorting system for a wide range of recycling facility applications. The CIRRUS provides automated separation opportunities for a variety of operations, including single stream and C&D operations, and for MRFs and other plastic, paper, and electronic scrap recycling facilities.

“The CIRRUS provides outstanding sensor resolution and identification performance,” says Greg Thibado, MSS General Manager, “We will be able to apply it to new sorting applications where optical sorting has not yet been used.”

MSS says the CIRRUS accurately sorts targeted commodities using advanced identification algorithms and corresponding precise high-pressure air jets. It can be easily configured by the operator via a touchscreen interface and is offered in various sizes between 1,200 mm (48 inches) and 2,400 mm (96 inches). The exact sensor configuration is tailored to the specific processing application.
