Auto dismantling system announced

This new Auto Dismantling System consists of an auto dismantling grapple and excavator hold-down arms. Units are designed to mount onto existing excavators in the 20 to 25 metric ton class, using the carrier’s hydraulics as well as added hydraulic and electronic componentry. This system can be factory installed or “kitted” to be field installed at a dealer or customer’s location.

The Hold Down Arms in this system are designed to partially crush and hold the rear end of a vehicle on the ground while the grapple goes to work, tearing out the most valuable components, including the wiring harnesses, radiators, heater cores, engines and transmissions. A seasoned operator can be expected to process approximately 10 to 12 vehicles an hour.

According to Northshore, the finest materials are used on these systems to provide maximum durability, exceptional performance and low maintenance. Units feature 360-degree continuous rotation on a heavy-duty bearing with an advanced, high torque motor and a high pressure hydraulic swivel, as well as high tensile steel throughout.   Other key features of the grapple include: arm tips made from hardened, abrasion-resistant material; hard facing factory installed on grapple arms; oversized, hardened cylinder and arm pivot pins with replaceable bushings; high pressure cylinders; and easily accessible, yet well protected grease zerks.
