ÉEQ’s Innovative Glass Works Plan announces names of five sorting centres to test new glass processing equipment and technology

Maryse Vermette, President and Chief Executive Officer and Denis Brisebois, Chair of the Board of Directors, Éco Entreprises Québec, with representatives of the five sorting centres selected under ÉEQ’s Innovative Glass Works Plan.

Éco Entreprises Québec (ÉEQ) has revealed the names of the five sorting centres selected to take part in pilot projects to test cutting-edge cleaning and sorting equipment for glass collected through curbside recycling in Québec, Canada. Under ÉEQ’s Innovative Glass Works Plan, a first in North America, the sorting centres will contribute to the search for a concrete solution for 100% of the glass collected through curbside recycling. In winter 2017, official inaugurations will be held in each sorting centre to mark the installation of the equipment, which represents a total investment of $4.1M US.

Éco Entreprises Québec reveals an innovative solution for glass recycling

Following its announcement in 2015 to invest in a solution to recycle 100% of the glass in Quebec,  Éco Entreprises Quebec (ÉEQ) has revealed the first three components of its Innovative Glass Works Plan. Investments representing $6.7 million will be made by ÉEQ to improve glass recovery and recycling from Quebec's single-stream collection program through the modernization of sorting centres and the development of new market outlets. To implement the plan, a strategic partnership was concluded with Krysteline Technologies, a British manufacturer that has developed a technology to meet the challenges of mixed materials recycling, and with Machinex, a major Quebec-based equipment provider that is now the North American distributor of Krysteline Technologies.
