The Mack Trucks Historical Museum unveiled an all-new exhibit titled "Keeping America Clean: The Evolution of the Waste Industry." The exhibit, which features three antique Mack trucks and an interactive visitor education display, was made possible thanks to support from Mack Trucks and Republic Services, an industry leader in recycling and waste disposal and longtime Mack customer. A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to officially open the exhibit.

This holiday season, Republic Services, Inc., is reminding their customers and all to incorporate sustainability into family traditions and work celebrations. With parties, decorations, cards, gift giving, and travel, North Americans generate approximately 25 percent more trash than normal during the holiday season, or one million extra tons of waste. Roughly 80 percent of that which is thrown away during the holidays could be recycled or reused, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Republic Services, Inc. has opened a new residential recycling center that will enable customers throughout Southern Nevada to achieve their sustainability goals for years to come. The Southern Nevada Recycling Center is capable of processing two million pounds of recyclable material per day, or 70 tons per hour, and is expected to double recycling capacity in the area.
Republic Services, Inc. announced November 6th that its subsidiary Republic Silver State Disposal, Inc. has started construction on a new recycling facility. When complete, Republic says they will be able to double residential recycling capacity in southern Nevada. The new 110,000 square foot facility will be home to highly advanced recycling technologies, and will be built next to an existing 88,000 square foot facility. The increased capacity is expected to make the Southern Nevada Recycling Complex the largest residential recycling complex in the U.S.
Republic Services has announced the addition of 14 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) solid waste and recycling trucks to serve customers throughout the greater Eastside, Puget Sound, Washington. This addition brings the total number of CNG trucks operated by Republic in the greater Puget Sound area to 109. The new CNG trucks replace older diesel-powered trucks, and represent a significant local investment in cleaner, safer and more efficient vehicles.
Republic Services today dedicated the Conover Recycling Facility in Catawba County, which will introduce or expand single-stream recycling capabilities throughout Alamance, Catawba, Guildford, Montgomery, Richmond, and Stanly counties. The expanded, highly-advanced facility – designed, manufactured and installed by Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) – has the capacity to process more than 25 tons of mixed recyclables per hour, or 400 tons each day.
