Sensor monitors material flow on conveyors using sound waves
Designed for use with automated telescoping conveyors that need a material flow switch, the Sonicscout material sensor emits sound waves and measures the time of the return echo. Built-in electronics in the sensor accurately calculate the distance from any material on the conveyor belt, and a switch output sends a signal to a PLC processor, where the automation program goes into pause mode when the belt is empty. When the material returns to the belt, the automation program resumes. The Sonicscout Material Sensor bracket is designed to be mounted on any CEMA rated idler.

The advantages of the Sonicscout Material Sensor include no moving of wear parts, less maintenance, no cleaning required, and dust does not affect the sensor. The sensor brackets fit 24- to 48-inch belt widths and the sensor is mounted over the centre roll to eliminate errors caused by belt sag under load. Units are designed to fit any new or existing Superior Industries TeleStacker Conveyor.

Sensor helps avoid conveyor belt problemsAlso recently available from Superior, the Sentinel Belt Speed Sensor is designed to alert users when there is a conveyor belt problem. The sensor is designed to indicate if the belt is slipping or has stopped moving due to breakage or other problems. There is no need for extra rolls and units easily mount onto any CEMA rated idlers or return rolls. The conveyor operator is able to set the belt speed that would indicate a problem; the Sentinel Belt Speed Sensor will count the roll rotation and feed the information back to the control box. The alert system can be output to an alarm, light, or a cut off switch.
