Scrap metal processor adds Baler / Logger /Shear

Morris Scrap Metal, out of North Carolina, recently installed a new Harris GS 7 Baler / Logger / Shear at their King’s Mountain processing facility. In business since 1931, Morris outgrew their previous Mosley shear and evaluated several pieces of equipment before purchasing another Harris machine.
“We are a family business and need equipment that can stand up to the demands of a fast paced scrap yard.” said Neil Morris, Vice President of Morris Scrap Metal. “The GS 7’s performance has met all of our expectations and then some.” The Harris GS 7 Baler / Logger / Shear was designed more compact than many other models, and to deliver high levels of performance and a lower operating cost per ton. The baling chamber and resulting bale size were engineered to meet mill specifications of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) operators.Veteran customer installs new balerIn another recent installation in New Jersey, Zozzaro Brothers added a Harris HRB Centurion two-ram baler (the eleventh Harris machine owned by the company). Their first baler was delivered in 1974, according to Larry Zozarro, Senior VP. Currently two Centurions, at separate locations produce approximately 30,000 tons per month for their operations.
Centurion balers are designed for high production and feature Harris-built 200 hp, fl ooded suction hydraulic power units, and a 13-inch (330 mm) bore main cylinder, for very high densities and fast throughput.
