New idler design
For conveyor systems

This new idler design is engineered for maximum performance, longer wear life, and easy adaptability to the cost-efficient use of replacement rolls. Available for CEMA B, C, D & E models, the new idler features a slotted shaft design for greater roll replacement flexibility, an innovative seal design for increased bearing protection, flared end stands for added strength and support, and the elimination of idler pinch points for longer wear life and consistent reliability.
With the market shifting toward the use of replacement/retrofit rolls, Superior’s new slotted shaft design allows cost-effective, easy adaptability of retrofit rolls to most existing frames. For a streamlined transition, a hex nut adaptor is available for those with hex nut brackets and frames. When attaching rolls to the frame, existing end clips can be used – or customers can choose the use of a bend-over tab that is incorporated into the frame design. The tab streamlines roll installation by eliminating the use of external hardware.
Superior’s new seal design includes an improved contact seal that results in less seal drag, a triple labyrinth seal that increases the distance that contaminants must travel, and grease fills that easily trap contaminants. Also, the seal’s glass-filled polypropylene material is more durable and less susceptible to corrosion.
Additionally, these units include flared end stands for added strength, especially in applications with large material lumps, or where material feed is sideways versus straight on. And to prevent premature roll failure, the new idler design eliminates pinch points between the end stand and the outside roll.
