Wireless truck scale

With extended range

Wireless truck scale
TruckWeight Inc recently announced the introduction of Smart Sensor, which extends the wireless range of its Smart Scale onboard weigh scale to as much as 500 feet. Designed for trucks, tractors, and trail ers with air suspensions, the Smart Scale is ideal for owners and operators who demand fast, precise, and accurate axle weight readings. The new Smart Sensor and wireless reader allow users to take a measurement where it’s convenient and safe, whether that’s in the truck cab or on the loading machine.

Smart Sensor measures temperature and pressure changes in a vehicle’s air suspension and wirelessly relays this data to a handheld receiver using a low-powered radio transmitter. A small computer in the handheld receiver interprets the information and provides an axle weight and gross vehicle weight measurement accurate to within 150 pounds. It produces readings once per minute, and every three seconds when the sensors detect the truck being loaded.

The result is an axle weight and gross vehicle weight measurement within 0.3 percent of the actual gross vehicle weight.

The new sensor enhances the Smart Scale’s simplicity, convenience, and value. It uses common AA batteries for power, and the sleek new anodized-aluminum housing design makes it easy to mount anywhere on the vehicle without a mounting bracket. “Smart Sensor produces a highly reliable RF signal with a line-of-site range of 500 feet,” says Peter Panagapko, president of TruckWeight. “The RF signal is intrinsically safe for use around flammable or hazardous materials, which has special appeal to bulk and explosives haulers.”
