UNTHA targets hard-to-shred plastics with new MR Series universal shredder
The beltless power drive eliminates typical sources of wear on the MR1800C PRO and protects components from damage

Designed to process thick-walled plastic sprues, moulded parts, pipes, profiles, bales of film, and composites, UNTHA's MR1800C PRO can shred a wide range of difficult-to-shred materials without any pretreatment. The machine can be used for intensive multi-shift operations for plastic processors, recycling companies, and industrial production facilities with high performance demands.
The development process focused consistently on durability and operational reliability. At the heart of the MR1800C PRO is the beltless UNTHA Power Drive, a direct drive system featuring an asynchronous motor, planetary gearbox, and maintenance-free safety clutch. This drive concept eliminates typical sources of wear, such as belts or tensioning systems, and reliably protects the cutting mechanism and drive train from damage caused by foreign matter. The result is exceptionally high machine availability and reduced operating costs.
Flexibility in shredding a range of materials
The C-cutting system allows the machine to be adapted to a wide range of applications. Rotor blades that can be used four times, reusable cutting bars, and bolted blade holders extend service life and significantly reduce wear costs.
Depending on the material, the number of blades and the cutting configuration can be individually adjusted. The MR class processes, amongst other things, plastic sprues, IBC containers, film bales, textiles, composite materials, wood waste, and documents and cardboard packaging with definable particle sizes between 10 and 60 millimetres.
Simple maintenance is built into the design
The hydraulic service flap provides direct access to the cutting unit for blade changes, removal of foreign matter, and cleaning operations. The hydraulically lowerable screen basket allows a single person to change the screen quickly, while the external, maintenance-free feed press with intelligent control ensures a consistent material feed even with bulky or difficult-to-grip materials, reducing necessary maintenance.
Increased digitalization improves machine operations and insights
The MR class is also setting new standards in digitalization. Machine data is available in real time via the MyUNTHA customer portal and the UNTHA GENIUS assistance system. Maintenance work can be planned proactively, and spare parts can be quickly identified via an integrated 3D spare parts catalogue.
Additional design features for ease-of-use
A large feed hopper facilitates loading with telehandlers or material-handling equipment, while optional features such as rotor cooling, automatic central lubrication, or a frequency converter allow the machine to be adapted to individual requirements. The intuitive 7-inch touchscreen display enables simple operation and ensures additional process reliability in day-to-day use.
