UNTHA, an Austrian manufacturer of industrial shredding technology, will showcase two new product innovations along with the latest evolution of its proven XR mobil-e platform at IFAT Munich 2026.

The new lineup includes a versatile primary shredder designed for challenging materials and plastics, as well as a high-performance secondary shredder engineered to produce high-quality solid recovered fuel (SRF). Both models will be introduced at IFAT. The XR mobil-e — UNTHA's semi-mobile shredder — has also been significantly upgraded to deliver even greater efficiency and performance. An XR3000RC mobil-e equipped with the new UNTHA Power Core will be operating live during the VDMA Demonstration Days on the IFAT outdoor grounds. Additional highlights include UNTHA's integrated system solutions, aftermarket support services, and the MyUNTHA customer platform.

UNTHA highlights at IFAT Munich 2026

All of UNTHA's trade show highlights this year are designed with one goal in mind: helping companies worldwide process waste more efficiently and improve recycling performance. The focus is on throughput, energy efficiency, and reduced downtime, delivering reliable performance where it matters most.

What visitors can expect at the exhibition stand (Hall B6, Stand 127) and the VDMA outdoor area:

MR1800C Pro shredder

New to the UNTHA product portfolio is the MR1800C: a single-shaft universal shredder designed for single-stage processing of particularly tough or difficult-to-shred materials. Designed to process difficult-to-shred materials such as wood, all types of plastics, waste, and much more.

SR3000XC refuse-derived fuel (RDF) shredder

The new SR class represents new shredding technology and high-throughput performance in RDF production. With the SR2000 and SR3000, operators can achieve new levels of output and consistency in producing high-quality solid recovered fuel (SRF). This machine features a secondary shredder for processing RDF with high productivity and low operating costs. As well, it is capable of processing pre-shredded, sorted, and screened material into high-quality main burner material.

XR mobil-e waste processor

More than a decade ago, UNTHA introduced the XR3000 mobil-e, its first semi-mobile shredder. At IFAT 2026, UNTHA is unveiling the latest evolution of this proven and widely adopted platform.

In addition to the existing drive — UNTHA Eco Power Drive — the XR is now also available with asynchronous drive technology: designed for particularly heavy-duty applications while offering the same high level of efficiency

The XR's C, RC, and XC cutting configurations allow it to handle a wide range of materials while adapting to varying operating conditions.

The XR upgrade is built to handle a broad range of materials, including waste wood, pulper ropes, mattresses, bulky waste, MSW, C&I waste, metals, rubber, and tires.

RS40 four-shaft shredder

Invented in the 1970s by UNTHA founder Aton Unterwurzacher, the 4-shaft shredder has been continuously developed over decades. UNTHA RS-class shredders are now well-suited to a wide range of industrial recycling applications.

System Solutions for many material flows

UNTHA shredders can be used as stand-alone machines or integrated into system solutions. UNTHA provides comprehensive support to its customers: the team takes care of the engineering, planning, design, manufacture, transport, and installation of turnkey solutions.

After-sales service & MyUNTHA

The purchase of an UNTHA shredder marks the beginning of a long-term partnership. That is why the UNTHA Service Competence Center provides customers with comprehensive support: with advice, services, and original UNTHA spare parts. In addition, the MyUNTHA customer platform offers features such as predictive maintenance, real-time process monitoring and optimization, an online shop, maintenance instructions, and more.

Live Demos: XR & Power Core

As part of the VDMA Practical Days on the IFAT outdoor grounds, a UNTHA XR3000RC will be demonstrated while shredding waste wood. It is powered by the UNTHA Power Core — a self-sufficient power generator that efficiently regulates the shredder's operation.

In addition to the XR, the battery-powered SENNEBOGEN 826 G Electro Battery material handler will also be used for feeding, which is also charged by the Power Core. UNTHA and SENNEBOGEN have jointly developed a solution to connect the shredder and the excavator. The aim is to achieve the best possible shredding by optimizing individual process steps: "Efficient shredding starts with optimal feeding. The decisive factor is not the maximum amount of material, but the precisely coordinated feed. Our goal was to optimize communication between the shredder and the excavator so that both systems react to each other in real time, and processes are optimized. Experts from UNTHA and SENNEBOGEN have succeeded in designing this interface intelligently - for stable processes, maximum efficiency, and highest quality results," explain Sebastian Sennebogen, managing director at SENNEBOGEN Multi Line GmbH & Co KG, and Stefan Scheiflinger-Ehrenwerth, chief innovation officer at UNTHA.

The company's R&D team remains focused on evolving customer needs and the unique requirements of regional markets worldwide:

"Our developments represent a real technological leap forward. We solve shredding problems that were previously considered difficult to implement or uneconomical. With our new shredders, we enable customers worldwide to process even the most demanding materials quickly and efficiently, thus creating new value-added potential," says Scheiflinger-Ehrenwerth.

"It is important to us that our products meet the actual needs of the market and our customers. This includes the desire for greater efficiency, broader fields of application, and lower investment and operating costs. The new MR and SR models, as well as the upgrade of the XR, respond precisely to these needs: they recycle materials that previously could hardly be shredded economically, are designed for maximum throughput and highest quality results, and at the same time offer particularly attractive OPEX," explains Scheiflinger-Ehrenwerth.
