Alter Trading acquires Iron and Metals’ Denver facility

Alter will continue to operate the 20-acre scrap metal trading facility with the same focus on safety and quality

Alter Trading has acquired Iron and Metals' Denver, Colorado, scrap recycling facility. Iron and Metals Inc.

Alter Trading Corporation has purchased the operating assets of Iron and Metals Inc., located in Denver, Colorado. The addition of Iron and Metals further expands Alter's Rocky Mountain Region and increases its facilities to 82. Alter will operate Iron and Metals' 20-acre Denver facility with a continued focus on safety, service, and quality. 

"This acquisition is an important milestone in our Colorado growth strategy, and we are pleased to add another family-owned metal recycler to Alter," shared Robert Goldstein, Chairman of Alter Trading. 

Mike Cohen, president of Iron and Metals, said, "We knew that the right moment would come to transition ownership of our business and pursue our individual interests. We are extremely comfortable and excited to place our business and history in Denver in the hands of our friends at Alter Trading."

The acquisition plays a key role in Alter's continuing plan to be the first-choice provider of raw materials to the largest steel-producing regions in the country. The transaction officially closed on September 25, 2026.
