Slow-speed shredder from Ecotec combines high-volume bulk reduction with simplified maintenance
Increased under-chamber clearance on the TSS 390 Plus improves versatility and clearance when shredding large, coarse, and bulky material

Ecotec's new TSS 390 Plus slow-speed shredder is the latest addition to its recycling portfolio, with a focus on processing organic and biomass material. The single-shaft shredder can process a broader range of materials than its predecessor (TSS 390), including waste, green waste, and large lump wood, and delivers greater versatility and more effective shredding.
Improvements on the TSS 390 Plus
The TSS 390 Plus shares all the key features of the TSS 390, including the in-house-designed shredding chamber with a hydrostatically driven shredding shaft offering full-speed reverse. Combined with customizable shredding programmes, this provides improved shaft cleaning in difficult applications, reducing wrappage and optimizing throughput. The chamber also features a hydraulically adjustable counter comb, allowing simple adjustment of piece size. The comb can operate in release mode for uninterrupted shredding or in fixed mode for applications where a precise piece size is critical. Double-sided access supports chamber maintenance and uptime.
The key design enhancement to the TSS 390 Plus is the increased under-chamber clearance, with a higher discharge channel (820mm) to enable large, coarse, bulky shredded material to clear the machine. Increased under-chamber clearance supports increased application flexibility, making the TSS 390 Plus suitable for bulk volume reduction while still producing a controlled piece size.
Designed to process bulky materials
Designed with bulk volume reduction in mind, the TSS 390 Plus comes as standard with an 18-tooth shaft, providing increased torque per tooth tip, which is particularly beneficial for tough applications and coarse shred. However, the optional 36 tooth shaft can be supplied if required.
With improved hopper capacity and geometry, the TSS 390 Plus can accept long, bulky materials into the shredding chamber, improving the material feed process and throughput.
An innovative design feature is the quick-release product conveyor system, so that the conveyor can be quickly removed by a single operator without tools, improving service access.
"The TSS 390 Plus is the result of extensive customer feedback and has been carefully engineered to retain the core design principles that made the TSS 390 successful," said Conor Hegarty, business line director for Terex Ecotec. "With the addition of advanced new features to meet today's demanding shredding requirements, the TSS 390 Plus has been rigorously tested across a wide range of applications and is set to create new opportunities in the market."
