HD Construction Equipment Hyundai North America will bring three machines configured specifically for scrap and recycling work to ReMA 2026, April 13–16, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.

On display at the Hyundai booth will be the HW250A MH material handler with elevating cab, HL955A HDXT wheel loader with full guarding, and the HX235ALCR excavator paired with an SAS Extreme auto processor. Each is set up to handle the kind of conditions scrap yards deal with every day—tight spaces, heavy materials, and constant wear.

"Scrap yards don't have the luxury of slowing down," said Hyundai North America Director of Sales Dale McLemore. "These machines are built to help crews move faster, stay safer, and get more done."

The HW250A MH is designed to provide operators with better visibility and a more stable working platform — two critical advantages when working in a scrap yard.

The cab raises to 9.5 feet (2.9 metres), making it easier to see across piles and into containers. Four outriggers come standard, helping keep the machine steady when handling uneven loads.

Those features aren't optional or add-ons; they're built in. "That means operators get the visibility and stability they need from day one, without having to spec up the machine," McLemore said.

Scrap environments are hard on machines, so the HL955A HDXT wheel loader has a reinforced structure and a full guarding package designed to protect key components and the operator from the rigors of working in a scrap yard.

The added protection helps reduce damage from debris and day-to-day impacts, which can mean less downtime and fewer repairs over time. The XT or extended-reach configuration also makes it easier to run grapples, forks, and other common scrap attachments.

"It's a straightforward approach — protect the machine so it can keep working," he said.

For processing vehicles, Hyundai has paired the HX235A LCR excavator with an SAS Extreme auto processor to show how scrap yards can speed things up while relying less on manual labour.

The processor is designed to break down vehicles and pull out valuable components without constant attachment changes. The excavator's compact-radius design allows operators to work in tighter areas with fewer concerns about swing clearance.

In practical terms, it allows one operator to handle work that would typically take several people, helping crews keep up with demand even when labour is tight.
