SWEED has expanded its upgraded granulator lineup with the redesigned SG1826, a compact solution engineered for wire chopping and scrap recycling applications. The SG1826 delivers the same performance and operator-friendly features found in SWEED's larger SG1840 granulator in a smaller footprint suited for operations with lower to mid-volume processing needs.

Compact granulator built for wire and scrap recycling

Built with attention to durability, performance, and ease of maintenance, the SG1826 is designed for recyclers who need industrial-grade cutting power without the full scale of SWEED's largest machines.

The SG1826 offers a choice between a 40 HP motor with six rotating knives or a 60 HP motor with ten knives, allowing operations to match power to their throughput needs. Its 26-inch cutting chamber is sized for moderate processing volumes, making it a versatile fit for wire and scrap recycling lines.

Built for recyclers expanding existing lines or designing new recycling systems, its compact size, high-strength construction, and reduced maintenance requirements offer reliability for demanding material recovery operations.

Key design and performance features of the SG1826

Knife maintenance made easier with redesigned components

The SG1826 includes a horizontal front knife bed for easier gapping, a redesigned knife gauge for quick adjustments, and toggle clamps that provide tool-free access to the hood. These upgrades make knife changes faster and simpler.

Reinforced structure for long-term granulator performance

A reinforced base and front plates reduce vibration and extend machine life. A sturdier drive guard improves durability, while the fully welded, precision-machined rotor ensures long-term reliability and tighter tolerances.

Preventative maintenance features reduce downtime

A spring-loaded belt tensioner maintains consistent tension as the belt naturally wears over time. This creates a more efficient, low-maintenance system built for longevity.

Improved access to the cutting chamber and rear components

The SG1826 includes an electromagnetic door latch for tool-free access to the cutting chamber. A smaller motor platform also improves rear access for easier servicing.

Precision fit through post-weld machining

Both top and bottom housings are machined after welding for a tighter fit. The redesigned front hood wear plate is now split into smaller pieces, making installation more consistent and manageable for one person.

Reversible screens extend screen life and performance

Reversible screens allow for longer life and more consistent throughput, reducing replacement frequency and costs.

Flexible integration with multiple feed systems

The SG1826 granulator can be paired with screw, belt, or pneumatic feed systems, depending on production setup, giving recyclers flexibility in how the machine integrates into their lines.
