Robin Wiener, president of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), issued the following statement after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released plans to invest more than $100 million from U.S. President Biden's Investing in America agenda to expand residential recycling infrastructure and waste management systems across the country:
"We applaud the Administration for making this substantial investment in residential recycling. The importance of recycling has never been greater or more essential to daily life. America's supply chain relies on recycled materials. This funding will improve the efficacy of our residential recycling programs and increase awareness about the importance of recycling.
"We applaud the Biden Administration and the EPA for securing funding to bolster recycling in communities across the country, which helps provide recycled materials that supply important renewable content for making things that we rely on every day. From electronics to automobiles to clothing – recycled materials are everywhere."
