Thorntons Recycling, a waste collection operator in Ireland, has received the company's first Dennis Eagle eCollect. The zero-emissions, all-electric collection vehicle will be deployed in Thornton's operations in Dublin and the surrounding areas.

The 27-tonne, 6x2 eRCV can manoeuvre easily due to its narrow body and rear steer chassis. The collection vehicle is ideal for busy and cluttered urban environments as well as narrow rural lanes with tight access. It operates quietly and can work in noise-sensitive environments.

Thorntons Recycling says that the eCollect will be the most environmentally-friendly vehicle in the company's fleet and described it as a significant milestone in their commitment to sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint.

"We are thrilled to introduce our new electric-powered waste collection vehicle," says Thorntons Recycling CEO Gary Brady. "We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and providing sustainable waste management solutions for our customers. This new vehicle is a key part of our ongoing efforts and investment to create a cleaner, healthier future for all."

"It's great to see Thorntons Recycling so enthusiastic about the eCollect," adds Dennis Eagle Sales and Marketing Manager Lee Rowland. "The need for sustainability is spreading all the time and this truck not only makes environmental sense but also operational and commercial sense and it is generating a lot of interest in Ireland."
