CCIC's Canadian operations authorized to inspect U.S. scrap shipments to China
ISRI received information May 22 that the Chinese Government will allow CCIC's Canadian operations to temporarily undertake pre-shipment inspections and issue certificates for U.S. scrap shipments bound for China. The authorization has been issued starting immediately through the end of the suspension of the U.S. operations on June 4. Containers will still be subject to 100% inspection upon arrival.
In their alert to members, ISRI emphasized that the organization does not yet know if CCIC Canada will be allowed to issue certificates for containers that had been inspected but not yet received certificates. ISRI said as soon as they have more information, including a complete notice, they will send a subsequent alert to members.
