New overbelt magnets suitable for explosive dusty environments
Goudsmit to display optimal separation of iron particles from biomass flows
At the IFAT in Munich, Goudsmit Magnetic Systems (stand C2-316) will show recently developed overbelt magnets suitable for ATEX zone 21 and 22 explosive dust environments. These magnets are suitable for removing iron particles from recycling, bulk-handling or biomass material flows such as wood, household waste, RDF (refuse-derived fuel) as well as coal or cement -- materials that are increasingly being reused and/or employed as fuel for power generation.
According to Goudsmit, the conveyor belts around these magnets are made to be extra tough and wear-resistant so they can capture and cast off the separated iron particles without problems. An auxiliary magnet is used to remove the separated iron particles from the magnetic field. The electrical parts, connections and cabling are all installed in accordance with ATEX guidelines. The bearings are also protected, and the magnetic system is completely covered. As an extra option, the magnet contains an active cooling system, with heat exchanger and pump, to provide regulation of the oil cooling of the magnet and ensure proper operation.
