4 THINGS TO LIKE ABOUT CAT® XE WHEEL LOADERS
The New Cat® 966M XE and 972M XE wheel loaders are hard at work on sites across North America. Owners, operators and equipment managers say the loaders are meeting or exceeding their high expectations. So what do they like best about the new machines?
Delivering reliable performance at first production can be challenging when a new design is introduced. But the XE power train was developed with time-tested technologies, then field-proven on the 966K XE. So when the first M Series XE loaders rolled off the assembly line, they were ready to perform reliably. It’s an innovation strategy that’s classic Caterpillar: integrate proven technologies in new ways to enhance reliability and make Cat customers more successful.
The power to do more
New owners say the M Series XE loaders can often do the work of larger machines. Some report retiring their bigger loading tools and pairing the 972M XE with larger on-highway trucks. The result is an efficient, three-pass match that lets them meet aggressive production targets at a significantly lower cost.
Big fuel savings
Virtually everywhere where the M Series XE loaders are working, they’re getting more done with less fuel. Owners report fuel efficiency gains of up to 25 percent versus Cat H, K and M Series loaders. These savings translate into real dollars. Owner operator Shane Matsen of Sierra Mining & Crushing who runs a 966K XE says he can make half his monthly payment with the money he saves in fuel. The M Series XE models deliver even more savings.
Recruiting and retention
Matsen and others like him mention another benefit of the XE loaders: operators love them. Replacing aging equipment with faster, more efficient and more ergonomic machines can help business owners attract and retain quality operators.
