Newly opened Ohio MRF uses Machinex technology

Machinex Technologies has announced its presence at the Rumpke Columbus (OH) Material Recovery Facility Grand Opening, which took place in October.

Featuring Machinex Technologies Equipment, the system at Rumpke's facility was designed based on pursuing the sorting capability of the Phase #1 system, separating OCC from single stream recyclables.

According to Machinex, the main focus of Rumpke’s decision for this project was to be capable of processing 30 to 35 TPH with minimal reliance on manual sorting.

The system starts with a second pre-sort system to collect small OCC, box board, chip board, and to remove plastic bags. A scalping screen and fines screen device will be use to break glass and to divert the 4" minus fraction directly to the finishing screen. Multiple ONP Screens are then used to insure maximum efficiency in sorting news while minimizing labor associated with manual sorting.

The container sorting line includes equipment such as flat fraction separators, magnets, eddy current, optical sorting units, and a glass cleanup system.

“Machinex adapted well to a unique situation,” said Jonathan Kissell, Rumpke corporate communications supervisor. “Rumpke has had a good experience with Machinex on several projects, including the renovation in Columbus and an aluminum can processing system in Georgetown, Ky.”

Machinex says the turnkey system in Columbus is the first complete single stream plant that Rumpke and Machinex have completed together.
