ST-400 slow speed, high torque shear shredder

ST-400 slow speed, high torque shear shredder

Shred-Tech recently introduced the ST-400 slow speed, high torque shear shredder. This model replaces ST-200 and ST-500 models and features a cast steel body design that uses finite element analysis to provide the best combination of strength and minimal material usage.

Modular in design, this shear shredder features bolted and doweled side walls to maintain bearing bore alignment and rigidity of the assembly. It also incorporates a 46-inch wide cutting chamber in four lengths, from 53 inches to 87 inches, to accommodate shredding of larger components.

The ST-400 is available in gear reduced electric or hydraulic drives, plus a direct drive hydraulic version for the processing of metals and off-road tires. Both electric and hydraulic models are available with horsepower ranging from 150 to 300, and knife tip forces up to 240,000 pounds.

Also included with the newly designed ST-400 is an industry unique knife design that reduces the torque demand while shredding, and which maintains “grabability” of bulky objects.

According to Shred-Tech, these units will shred truck tires at 20 tons per hour, heavy electronic scrap at 15 tons per hour and will reduce cast aluminum five-litre V8 engine blocks  (complete with steel cylinder liners and bearing journals) to a two-inch size in less than 30 seconds.
