Northshore introduces largest stationary electric material handler

The newest and largest member of Northshore’s lineup of stationary electric material handlers, the Builtrite Model 6500-SE, weighs in at 103,000 pounds. The 6500-SE has a 20.4-metre (67-foot) horizontal reach, a fabricated boom using high tensile steel, high pressure hydraulics (310 Bar / 4,500 PSI) and high flow for fast cycle times and greater lift capacity (6,075 Kg /13,364 lbs. at full reach without attachment.)

This versatile handler is designed for industrial, heavy-duty cycle applications like scrap handling (loading shredders) and solid waste handling (loading shredder/balers). According to Northshore, stationary electric material handlers have proven to be much more cost effective, over the life of the machine, as compared to diesel powered material handlers.

The 6500-SE uses a 350-hp TEFC, 460 volt, three phase electric motor with soft start controller, and all pivot points utilize oversized, hardened and chromed pins with aluminum bronze bushings at the boom pivots and steel bushings at the cylinder pivots.

Other key features include: 360-degree continuous rotation on a large pedestal base; an automatic lubrication system; a modern, comfortable, operator’s cab; central console control with instrumentation, start/stop controls and additional electrical circuits available; and a catwalk around both sides and back, with stairway and heavy-duty rails leading to the cab. A wide variety of attachments are available including orange peel grapples, bale grapples and pulpwood grapples, as well as a magnet rectifier package.
