Lightweight perlite aerates and holds water

Lightweight perlite aerates and holds water
Perlite is a naturally occurring volcanic rock. When heated to high temperatures, Perlite “pops” and expands up to 15 times its original volume. The resulting lightweight particles are made up of microscopic spheres with a porous, broken surface that promotes plant growth. This allows aeration and drainage of the root system and provides holding capacity for water and nutrients. Perlite is pH neutral and can be used as a component of a growing mix for the growing of seedlings, cuttings, hydroponics, nursery stock, hanging baskets, a soil conditioner and for roof deck gardens.
