Elevating-face turner for continuous stack or windrows

Elevating-face turner for continuous stack or windrows
With its patented elevating-face technology, the CT1010TX compost turner can be used on compost sites with either continuous-stack or windrow configurations. “Our elevating-face technology features a combination of paddles and teeth that lift and tumble the compost material up the face of the compost turner and discharge material at the rear of the machine,” says Chris Nichols of Vermeer. “This innovative process does not degrade the compost material and introduces more oxygen into the compost pile.” The CT1010TX compost turner creates a continuous stack configuration by using an optional conveyor. This eliminates the need for open space between windrows, and allows for three to four times more material to be placed in the same space, compared to conventional windrow composters.

Powered by a 215 hp (160 kW) Cum-mins QSB 6.7 L engine, the CT1010 TX can process up to 4,000 cubic yards (3,058 cubic meters) of compost per hour, depending on the type of material and moisture content. Units will turn a stack 10 feet (3 m) wide and 9 feet (2.7 m) high. These turners are propelled by a dual steel track system, for excellent traction and low ground pressure. Units feature speeds of zero to 3.2 miles per hour (zero to 5.1 km/hr) in the high range, and zero to 6.5 feet per minute (zero to 2.0 m/min) in low range, for enhanced control in wet and heavy material.

Additionally, CT1010TX compost turners include an advanced control system which monitors elevating-face pressure and which will slow or stop the ground drive when the elevating-face pressure reaches a predetermined level, and these machines use both grade five and eight bolts to prevent tooth loss due to shearing caused by contaminants.

Other key features include: a comfortable operator’s cab with joystick controls and active-carbon air filtration; an optional 48-inch (122 cm) wide V-cleat, adjustable discharge conveyor; and separate reversible hydrostatic pumps that control the dual tracks, elevating face and optional conveyor.
