Waste Connections, Inc. and Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. announced January 19th, 2016 that they have entered into a definitive agreement to merge in an all-stock transaction. Upon the completion of the transaction, Waste Connections stockholders will own approximately 70% of the combined company, and Progressive Waste shareholders will own approximately 30%. The transaction has been unanimously approved by both companies’ Boards of Directors and is expected to close in the second quarter of 2016.

Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. has announced the official launch of its new automated waste collection service in the Municipality of Chatham-Kent.
Progressive Waste Solutions announced in December, 2014 the official opening of its natural gas fuelling station facility in Coquitlam, British Columbia. The new operation now services the largest fleet of natural gas powered waste and recycling collection vehicles in B.C., and the largest in Canada.

On June 25th, Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. officially opened its high-tech waste reduction facility in the city of Vaughan, Ontario. The new operation will redirect up to 85 per cent of the construction, demolition and renovation waste it receives away from landfills for reuse or conversion to bio-fuel.
Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd., which currently runs Canada’s largest waste and recycling collection fleet of natural gas powered vehicles, has announced plans to significantly increase the number of natural gas powered trucks it purchases. The Company made the announcement on May 30, the first day of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities annual conference, held in Vancouver, British Columbia.
