Compact trommel offers pintle-hitch towability

The wheeled 516 REP model trommel (equipped with a radial stacker, end conveyor and pintle hitch) is a mid-range unit featuring a dramatic reduction in transport size with upsized feed and conveyor components for increased throughput. Units use an optional tipping grid, and are compatible with simple pintle-hitch towing. The 516 REP units are designed to be pulled easily behind any heavy-duty truck or loading equipment normally found in construction and aggregate fleets.
The 516 REP utilizes new fabrication techniques developed by McCloskey for the manufacture of its highly compact 412 R, which result in a compact construction that reduces overall transport length by one third. The 412 R, also a wheeled, pintle-towed trommel, was the first Mc-Closkey machine to make extensive use of a folded steel plate in the chassis, in place of a traditional welded construction. Using folded plates gives engineers greater structural strength and more flexibility for their internal configuration of the trommel.
Despite its compact travel size, the 516 REP trommel features a six-yard feed hopper (50 percent larger than previous models) plus wider conveyor belts to match. The feed belt and stacker belts have both been upsized from 30 inches to a 36-inch width, while the new oversize belt weighs in at a “monster” 42-inch width. The 516 retains the same five-foot by 16-foot drum screen used by its predecessors.
