Closed loop concrete recycling

Wildcat Manufacturing has recently installed the final piece of the puzzle in Schmillen Constructions closed loop concrete recycling operation. The system uses a Cedar Rapids crusher and screen with the rejects being fed into the Wildcat 516 Cougar Trommel Screen to remove the topsoil. The clean rejects coming out of the 516 Cougar were conveyed back to the crusher reclaiming another 60 tons per hour of additional crushed concrete. The Wildcat Cougar has 5/8-inch screens installed. The crusher was producing 320 tons per hour, of which, 140 tons was being fed into the Wildcat as rejected material. Figuring on $5 per ton, this equates to an additional $300 per hour of recycled concrete, which prior to screening would have been considered a non-marketable reject product and would have been disposed of.
The new 516T Cougar features the addition of tracks, which allows the Wildcat to be relocated on site with a hand-held remote control. This eliminates the need for a radial conveyor which allows operators to stockpile large amounts of material without moving the fi nes or overs stockpiles. Tracked units are also beneficial when operating on environmentally sensitive sites. The angle of the trommel screen is adjustable with the tracks undercarriage.
