Scrap shredders
Metso Texas Shredder’s 122/108 Heavy Service Damp Shredding System (based on the latest unit sold) includes a 7,000 hp motor and complete ferrous and non-ferrous downstreams. The 122/108 shredder has the capability of processing in excess of 300 tons of shredded scrap per hour. Scrap shredders from Metso Texas Shredder are available ranging in size from 60x80 up to the 122x108 (outstretched hammer diameter x the nominal rotor width), and are built for handling/ fragmentizing ferrous input such as car bodies, compressed steel logs and loose miscellaneous scrap. Material throughputs range from 30 to 350 tons per hour, and main drive motor sizes range from 1,000 to 8,000 hp.

Design features include: heavy duty platen construction; “drop-in” thick castings for longer life and easy changeout; available welded mill type cylinders; end-supported parabolic grates that are virtually unbreakable; available auto-pilot control; and a water-injection system which controls shredder smoke, dust and visible pollution, and produces steam which displaces oxygen in the mill for reduced explosion risk.
