Wheel loader

With hydrostatic drive

Wheel loader
The largest unit in the SKL model line, the SKL260H wheel loader is a 175 hp hydrostatic drive machine weighing 32,855 pounds, and provides 3.3 to six cubic yard bucket capacities.

According to Lowell Stout, Terex product manager, “larger wheel loaders increase productivity because they’re designed to run faster, lift more and dump more than compact units.” Stout says that while most competitive wheel loaders are mechanical drive, the SKL260H outperforms the competition with its hydrostatic drive technology and reduces operating costs by up to 10 percent. “Unlike mechanical drive units, the hydrostatic drive reduces tire slippage,” explains Stout. “The result is faster cycle times and less wear and tear on the tires.” A cooling fan keeps the radiator clean and improves cooling performance, and an intelligent instrument panel allows operators to check fluid levels from the comfort of their cabs, while a proportional hydraulic valve delivers on-demand oil flow, significantly reducing fuel consumption.

The SKL260H uses a powerful Perkins 1106T COM II turbocharged diesel engine, which is mounted transversely in the rear of the machine, below the engine hood. “This new assembly keeps the counterweight to a minimum, allowing for more weight and strength to be built into each component so operators can move materials in record time,” says Stout. The sleek back-end design also provides ground level servicing for quick and easy maintenance and exceptional visibility out the back window.

For operator comfort on the SKL260H, standard features include a cushioned, adjustable seat, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, an intelligent instrument panel and a heat and air conditioning system. Two doors and floor-to-roof glass windows provide excellent visibility and a more comfortable work environment.
