Improving Customer Service at the scrapyard
Automated transactions keep business flowing and deter thieves

Scrap Manager is a state of the art electronic documentation system that was installed to improve customer service with quick turnaround, and increase the company’s reporting capability about each transaction.
AAEQ invested close to $100,000 in the new system including major capital improvements to their facility, which handles recycling for both ferrous and non-ferrous scrap material. Scrap Manager provides automated payments, issued in cash or check depending on the size of the transaction; electronically records seller information, streamlines the transaction process, and allows AAEQ the flexibility to offer periodic promotions.
Large corporate customers will receive a check delivered direct to the company based upon the transactions recorded. For material sold by individuals, they will have the option to receive payment in cash from an onsite dedicated ATM machine.
All scrap material sold to AAEQ will be captured by digital video or photograph, contact information will be entered and kept on file, and a digital fingerprint of the seller will be required. The new system records the exact material sold according to date and time.
Scott Stolberg, President of AAEQ, says,”We’ve had positive feedback from our customers about the new system, especially our large corporate customers. They like the thorough record keeping and the ability to get one check for all their transactions. Whether you are an individual with a small load of scrap metal to sell or a truckload, Scrap Manager makes it easy to get in and out and get paid quickly.”
The new electronic system also allows AAEQ the flexibility to review transactions based on multiple criteria such as type of material sold, date and time sold, quantity sold, and the seller involved.
Stolberg adds, “Unfortunately, there are people that will steal scrap material and try to sell stolen property to us or other processors. This system should help deter anyone thinking about this type of illegal activity. AAEQ and the vast majority of scrap processors are legitimate businesses that provide a much needed service. Our Scrap Manager system will be instrumental in deterring theft. ”
Reports generated from Scrap Manager will be available to share with law enforcement or other authorities in the event a transaction is investigated.
