COMPOSTABLE BROWN BAGS

COMPOSTABLE BROWN BAGS
BIOSAK Compostable Brown Bags are made with a new generation of plastic derived from corn. Regular plastic is not biodegradable, and certainly not compostable. Those bags do not break down properly and contaminate compost with plastic residue.

For those reasons the Region of Durham, The Region of Peel, Halton Region and Prince Edward Island allow onlyCompostable plastic bags into their compost programs.

Paper bags for kitchen waste cost four times as much as Ralston’s BIOSAK Bags. BIOSAK Bags are valuable to the resident, the municipality, the composter and the compost buyer because they are certified compostable — they become compost, they are food for micro-organisms, and they do not leave plastic residue.

BIOSAK Bags do not devalue the compost. They encourage and help sustain participation of residents, and this results in a lower cost per ton for managing municipal household organic waste, and a higher sales value for plastic-free compost. Lower waste management costs translate directly to the residential taxes of the consumers using the bags.

Briefly stated, BIOSAK Compostable Brown Bags are a lower cost solution to the municipality than are paper or polyethylene bags.
