AI platform from Machinex unifies intelligence across entire recycling operations, not just one machine
MIND provides real-time decision-making, computer vision material classification, and advanced analytics across entire MRF operations

Machinex has unveiled MIND, its unified AI platform for waste sorting and recycling operations, at IFAT Munich 2026.
MIND moves beyond single-machine intelligence to deliver system-wide optimization across an entire material recovery facility (MRF) — combining computer vision, machine learning, and real-time decision-making into a single closed-loop platform.
How MIND works
MIND integrates computer vision and machine learning to detect, classify, and sort materials in real time. As a closed-loop intelligence system, it continuously learns from live material streams, enabling MRFs to adapt to changing inputs while sustaining throughput, purity, and consistency.
Key functions include material analysis, real-time operational decisions, system-wide optimization, and advanced reporting for traceability and compliance.
"The future of recycling isn't just automation, it's intelligent systems. For years, intelligence has been applied to one machine at a time. With MIND, we're extending that intelligence across multiple units into a unified system, moving beyond individual equipment," says Chris Hawn, CEO of Machinex Technologies. "It gives operators the control and insight needed to manage complexity, improve performance, and make smarter decisions in real time."
Introducing MIND AirPulse
Alongside the platform launch, Machinex is introducing MIND AirPulse — an AI-powered pneumatic sorting system engineered for high-speed material recovery and advanced quality control.
Driven by MIND's real-time decisions, AirPulse delivers sorting rates exceeding 20 times that of a manual sorter, with precision and responsiveness that scale with the rest of the system.
MIND is integrated across the Machinex AI-powered equipment family, including:
- SamurAI sorting robot
- Hyspec MIND AI-enhanced optical sorter
- MIND AirPulse
- MIND Vision
Built for MRF complexity
Developed and deployed in operating recycling facilities since 2019, MIND addresses the growing demands facing modern MRFs: increasing material stream complexity, tighter purity requirements, and expanding traceability and compliance obligations. The platform gives operators centralized control and actionable data across their entire system rather than just individual machines.
"Everything we do starts with understanding our customers' reality and how we can help them achieve their recycling goals," says Pierre Paré, president and owner of Machinex Group. "MIND brings together the legacy of 55 years of innovation into a single intelligent platform designed to simplify operations and improve performance. It reinforces our commitment to deliver reliable performance and to stand alongside our customers as a partner they can trust."
As recycling operations face increasing complexity, higher purity requirements, and growing demands for traceability and compliance, MIND provides operators with the tools to stay ahead, delivering greater control, improved efficiency, and actionable insights across the entire system.
