Cross Wrap is supporting the reopening of Circulose's commercial-scale operation at its Ortviken textile recycling facility in Sundsvall, Sweden. Cross Wrap has delivered automated bale infeeding and dewiring solutions for recycled textile bales to improve efficiency and safety from the beginning of the recycling process.

Circulose to resume operations in Sweden

Circulose recently announced that it will be resuming operations at its Ortviken plant, marking a major milestone for the global textile recycling industry. The facility will produce CIRCULOSE, a high-quality dissolving pulp made entirely from discarded cotton textiles, with production planned to restart in Q4 2026 as part of the company's strategy to scale sustainable materials for the fashion and textile supply chain.

To ensure efficient preprocessing and smooth material flow, Cross Wrap will use its proven Cross Dewiring Machine, designed to safely and efficiently remove wires from recycled textile bales, with a tailor-made conveyor system feeding material to shredding and further processing.

The Ortviken facility is recognised as the world's first commercial-scale chemical textile recycling plant. By integrating robust automated preprocessing technologies, Circulose is strengthening both operational performance and its contribution to large-scale textile-to-textile recycling.

"We are delighted to partner with Circulose and contribute to this pioneering project," says Aino Saarelainen-Hukkala, Sales Manager at Cross Wrap. "By automating bale dewiring and infeeding, we bring efficiency and safety to the start of the process, while protecting downstream equipment and reducing maintenance needs."

"The dewiring solution improves efficiency and makes the start of the process safer. By preventing bale wires from damaging the shredder, it reduces maintenance needs and allows our team to focus on other critical tasks," says Henrik Dahlbom, project and maintenance manager at Circulose.

Cross Wrap continues to support customers in recycling, waste management, and material handling with tailored solutions that enhance productivity, safety, and sustainability across the value chain.
