Agromin has composted 250,000-tons more organic compost in 2025 compared to 2024, bringing its total amount up to 1.25 million tons of organic waste successfully composted and diverted from landfill.

The Oxnard-based company manages 21 processing and composting facilities throughout the state. Its finished products are used by farmers, commercial landscapers, residential customers, nonprofits, schools, and state and local government agencies.

Boosting California's recycling goals

Because of state-mandatory organic waste recycling laws, California jurisdictions have enlisted the help of organic recyclers like Agromin to help turn their green waste into compost and mulch. Ten of those jurisdictions partnered with Agromin in 2025 to distribute finished compost and mulch products to residents through customized coupon programs.

Under these programs, residents in nine cities, including Camarillo, Fillmore, Oxnard, Ojai, and Ventura, and the unincorporated areas of Ventura County, could order free materials through an online portal operated by Agromin. In 2025, 1,806 tons of compost and 2,246 tons of mulch were distributed free to residents in bulk, and an additional 17,450 bags of compost were given away.

"Under SB 1383, jurisdictions need a place to put their compost and mulch made from organic waste. The materials can no longer go into landfills," says Bill Camarillo, Agromin's CEO. "The coupon program and other free distribution programs are ideal. Jurisdictions comply with state mandates while offering free, all-organic soil products to their residents. We expect to see these programs adopted in more and more jurisdictions."
