CARI's 69th Annual Convention Just Around the Corner

CARI's 69th Annual Convention Just Around the Corner

The Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI) annual trade show; "Leading the Charge" takes place June 10-12, 2010 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel.  According to the organization, sponsorship is sold out and exhibit space is full.

"This year, our host city will be beautiful Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, at the charming Delta Hotel," said CARI President Sheldon Jarcaig in his recent Message from the President. "This will be the first time that CARI will hold its convention in Charlottetown... Our convention theme this year is “Leading the Charge “.

"The common misconception of our industry by others is that it represents the end of product and material lives. In fact, as we all know, recycling is a continuous loop - with no real beginning or end. CARI wants to celebrate the leadership of our industry by continually informing our members about relevant matters. Hopefully, an economic turnaround is in the not too distant future, and the information we have at our disposal will allow us to take proactive measures by “Leading the Charge” to benefit our respective companies."

"I am proud to announce that CARI has again put together an informative and rewarding convention," continues Jarcaig. "Our keynote speaker will be Lieutenant General, The Hon. Roméo Dallaire (Ret). Dallaire served 35 years with the Canadian Armed Forces and is considered a true hero. His best-selling book “Shake Hands With the Devil” is a stirring account of his experience as the Force Commander of the United Nations Assistance Mission to Rwanda, which exposes the failures of the international community to stop the worst genocide in the 20th century.  As an outspoken leader for the 21st century and a champion of Human Rights, we are sure to be inspired by L. General Dallaire’s discussion on leadership."

"For real take home value we will be examining changes that impact our industry in the “Vital Sectors” session. After an economic overview, speakers will discuss two leading areas that use our materials; the automotive and construction sectors. Our ever popular panel of industry leaders will further provide attendees with the opportunity to learn about the state of the copper, aluminum, and ferrous industries. Hear about each sectors’ current status, their present challenges, their outlooks, and engage in the debate with the speakers."

"Finally, some networking can take place at the more relaxing activities like golf at the Links at Crowbush Cove and other PEI Golf Courses, the Suppliers’ Reception, the President’s Reception and the Convention closing banquet. This year we are pleased to have Terry Hatty, a well known Canadian entertainer who in his more than 30 year career was a member of the Guess Who."
