CCOHS Celebrates Health and Safety Week - Offers Free Webinar

Workplaces across North America will be planning their activities and programs for North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH), May 4-10, 2014. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS) provides resources and tools Canadian workplaces can use to create their own safety week program.

NAOSH Week strives to focus the attention of employers, employees, the general public and all workplace safety and health partners on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community.

To help inspire organizations and to provide them with tools to create their own safety week program, CCOHS has a variety of free podcasts and webinars available on its website.

With Make Safety a Habit as the theme for this year’s health and safety week, CCOHS will be broadcasting a live webinar Healthy Workplaces: A Team Effort, on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

Laurie Tirone, Senior Account Manager and leader of the Healthy Workplace Team at CCOHS will share the Centre’s journey in starting a healthy workplace team – how the initiative gained momentum, and will share practical tips and ideas to help organizations jump-start their own healthy workplace plans. Registration for this webinar is free and can be found on the CCOHS website.

NAOSH Week is an annual initiative led by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety (CCOHS), Labour Program, Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC). NAOSH Week continues to be a truly continent-wide event, celebrated in Canada, along with North American partners in the United States and Mexico. For more information, visit www.naosh.org.

CCOHS will be attending the national launch of NAOSH Week, along with other health and safety partners, on Monday May 5, 2014 in St. John’s Newfoundland.
