AI recycling assistants deployed at Boston Logan Airport
The Oscar Sort AI recycling assistant from Intuitive AI is a strategy to improve recycling rates across the airport

Boston Logan International Airport is improving operations with the addition of Oscar Sort, the AI recycling assistant from Intuitive AI. Strategically placed in high-traffic areas across three terminals, Oscar Sort is designed to improve material management and increase recycling rates at the airport.
Oscar Sort uses advanced image recognition to analyze packaging in real time, providing travelers with instant disposal guidance. This system improves recycling accuracy, minimizes contamination, and reduces costs associated with improper material sorting.

"Massport has been working hard on meeting our Net Zero goals by 2031, and the Oscar Sort AI recycling assistant is an important piece of that strategy," said Rich Davey, Massport CEO. "Whether it's helping passengers make the right choice when throwing something away, or bringing sustainable aviation fuel to the airport, sustainable technology is at the center of everything we do."
"Boston Logan is taking a data-driven approach to improve passenger experience across the airport industry," said Hassan Murad, CEO and Co-Founder of Intuitive AI. "With Oscar Sort, Massport is increasing operational efficiency, cutting costs, and making informed decisions backed by real-time data."
Beyond cost savings, Oscar Sort delivers valuable insights that allow Massport to optimize material flow, allocate janitorial resources more effectively, and improve overall labour efficiency. By integrating AI into its sustainability strategy, Logan Airport is setting a new standard for airport traveller experience and responsible material collection.
