CDRA re-launches recycling website with a focus on asphalt shingles
Updated information on the website includes shingle recycling drop-off points and state regulations for professionals

The Construction and Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) has redesigned ShingleRecycling.org, a comprehensive resource dedicated to advancing the recycling of roofing materials, with a special focus on asphalt shingles.
While CDRA has consistently updated the site over the past 24 years, the new improvements go beyond just content updates. The revamped site features a modern infrastructure and user-friendly experience that makes it easier for visitors to find crucial information on recycled asphalt shingles (RAS).
Improvements on the shingle recycling website
A key enhancement on the website is the updated Find A Recycler tool, which has been redesigned for better navigation, allowing users to locate local recycling drop-off points. The site now also offers a convenient option for businesses to add their recycling facilities to the database through a simple submission form, which ensures that the resource remains as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible.
ShingleRecycling.org is a useful guide for the collection of RAS-related research, presentations, and reports. Some materials are freely accessible to all visitors, while others are exclusive to CDRA members. Among the newly added resources is a guide for roofing contractors, outlining best practices for properly preparing waste materials for recycling.
The website also features valuable business tools, including a best practices guide for recyclers, and a sample Beneficial Use Determination (BUD). A key section of the site is dedicated to specifications for using RAS in road construction, with detailed information on Department of Transportation (DOT) state-level regulations.
Shingle recycling professionals working collaboratively
The upgrade was led by CDRA's Shingle Recycling Committee, an active group focused on advancing the practice of shingle recycling. Anyone looking to access exclusive resources, connect with fellow professionals, and collaborate on advancing the future of shingle recycling, can join the CDRA.
"I'm grateful to the Shingle Recycling Committee for their collaboration on redesigning the ShingleRecycling.org website. Our committee unites the asphalt roofing community to share knowledge and strengthen end markets, benefiting our businesses. Thanks to our roofing manufacturing sponsors, CertainTeed and Owens Corning for their support, both in design and funding. Consider joining the CDRA and our committee to help grow the recycled asphalt shingle market," said Dan Horton, asphalt shingle recycling innovator, ASR Systems, chair of CDRA's Shingle Recycling Committee.
