Circular Services expands organics processing capability with Quantum Organics merger
Quantum brings expertise and management solutions for recycling food and green waste to Circular Services' national footprint of material recovery facilities

Quantum Organics, an end-to-end organics management company based in Southington, CT, has joined Circular Services, the nation's largest private recycling and circular economy services provider.
Quantum Organics was created through the merger of Quantum Biopower and Supreme Forest Products, and the company's campus in Connecticut has 100,000 tons per year of permitted capacity for food waste and 500,000 yards per year for leaf and yard waste. Quantum brings deep expertise and new processing solutions for recycling food and green waste to Circular Services' national footprint of material recovery facilities, according to the companies.
Turning organic waste into consumer products
With the longest continuously operating anaerobic digestor in North America and large-scale composting, Circular Services' new operations in the Northeast provide end-to-end organic waste services: product de-packaging and destruction, mobile grinding and chipping, and organics transportation and processing. The business turns organic materials into consumer products, including electricity, bagged compost, mulch, and soil.
"We are thrilled to join Circular Services," says Brian Paganini, vice president and managing director at Quantum Organics. "Being part of Circular Services allows us to scale our vision of turning organic waste into a valuable resource while addressing pressing environmental challenges. Together, we're not just managing the materials, we're redefining their potential."
Expanding organics processing capabilities
Circular Services operates more than 20 material recovery facilities across the U.S., processing over 1.5 million tons of residential, commercial, and industrial material annually. With the addition of Quantum, Circular Services expands its capabilities for processing organics — the largest category of materials in landfills today — bringing the U.S. closer to a sustainable, circular materials management system, say the companies.
"Organics — including food scraps, yard waste, and biological waste — make up 30-50 percent of landfills and contribute to harmful methane releases," says Circular Services' chief strategy officer, Jessica Long. "Addressing organic waste is a key part of our mission at Circular Services, providing a critical service to commercial, industrial, and residential customers. We are excited to have Brian and the entire team at Quantum Organics join Circular Services as we expand our ability to provide organics collection and processing services across the U.S."
