Nors Group (Nors) has acquired 100 percent of the stock of Great West Equipment (Great West), whose Volvo CE territory covers British Columbia and Yukon. The Western Canadian dealership has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Nors. The transaction closed on March 1, 2024.

Nors Group, a private company based in Portugal, is expanding its heavy equipment footprint in North America with the acquisition of Great West, a Volvo Construction Equipment dealer in Western Canada. Headquartered in Vernon, British Columbia, Great West has around 250 employees across 11 locations. Great West has been a Volvo CE dealer since 2002.

Nors sells, rents, and services construction, infrastructure, mining, and forestry equipment, as well as Volvo trucks, buses, cars, and marine and industrial engines in 17 countries on four continents. Nors acquired Strongco Corporation (Strongco) in March 2020 for its first entry into the Canadian market.

"We are very excited to welcome Great West Equipment to the Nors family, amplifying our presence in Canada, a market that has proven to be very relevant and strategic for the Group," said Tomás Jervell, Group CEO of Nors.

"Nors has been a great partner in North America through its subsidiary, Strongco, and I know this move will benefit our customers in Western Canada," said Scott Young, head of region North America at Volvo CE. "Great West has been a vital link in our dealer network, serving some of the most remote areas of Western Canada."
