Machinex manufactures equipment for largest residential single stream recycling centre in North America
Rumpke Recycling has selected Machinex to provide a turn-key, state-of-the-art recycling centre in Cincinnati, Ohio. The facility will process 55 tons an hour of single-stream recycling material, more than doubling the capabilities of the previous plant. Machinex will begin delivering equipment to Rumpke Recycling in Cincinnati in May and equipment will be fully operational by November 1.
Machinex says the equipment at Rumpke is designed to be versatile, and has the capability to easily add new technology as it becomes available.
According to Machinex, Rumpke’s facility will be the largest and most technologically advanced, single stream material recovery facility (MRF) in the U.S. A combination of sorting technologies, including a glass cleaning system, optical sorting, disc screens and magnets, will segregate glass, plastics, metals containers, paper, cardboard and cartons. A single level platform will allow operators and sorters to access the entire system without having to go up and down steps or ladders. Machinex was also selected to supply two MLP-155TP balers at Rumpke, to add redundancy and handle the high volume of containers and fibre generated by the system.
Chris Hawn, North American sales manager at Machinex, who also worked with Rumpke on the recent renovation of their Columbus, Ohio MRF said, “At their Columbus facility, a 35 tons per hour plant, we were able to meet or exceed all purity and efficiency rates. Now our focus is on Rumpke’s Cincinnati facility. We are capitalizing on the best practices identified from the Columbus project to enhance systems with customized equipment and additional optics.”
