CDRA award winners to receive honours at C&D World 2019 this March in New York

Michael Gross, Zanker Recycling, San Jose CA, and Clarence "Jay" Giltz, Eagle Crusher, will be inducted into the C&D Hall of Fame, the industry's highest honor, at the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association's C&D World 2019, upcoming this March 10-12 in New York City.

Construction & Demolition Recycling, South Gate, California, is the facility named C&D Recycler of the Year, while Terri Ward of Notre-Dame, New Brunswick-based Sparta Manufacturing, is the CDRA Member of the Year. These awards were announced by the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association (CDRA) in recognition for excellence in the C&D industry. This is the 5th year the awards have been given out.

"This year's group of CDRA Award winners exemplify the best in C&D recycling," says Troy Lautenbach, Lautenbach Recycling and CDRA President. "The C&D industry is better off thanks to their efforts.

C&D Hall of Fame
Michael Gross is Director of Sustainability at Zanker, where he has worked for almost 30 years and is well known throughout the West Coast waste and recycling industry. Gross was a long time member of the CDRA's board and was responsible for shaping the association's policy and helping develop such programs as the Certification of Recycling Rates (CORR). He still serves on the Board of the Recycling Certification Institute, which administers the CORR program. He has represented the C&D recycling industry to the USGBC and the U.S. EPA, as well as working heavily with California legislators and regulators in pushing forward the C&D recyclers' agenda. Gross also is involved in several charitable organizations in the Bay Area.

Jay Giltz, Senior Sales Representative at Eagle Crusher, Galion. OH, has probably sold more crushing systems for the recycling of aggregates than any other person. Working 20 years ago with Eagle management, he helped position the company to become the leading supplier of crushers to the recycling industry by directing sales in that area and working to engineer the crushing systems to more efficiently work in the challenging recycling environment. He recognized early on the value CDRA would provide to his customers, and served on the CDRA Board of Directors to provide guidance on how to best serve the aggregate recycling industry. Giltz is only the second vendor to be inducted in the C&D Hall of Fame.

C&D Recycler of the Year
C&D Recycler of the Year is Construction and Demolition Recycling, Inc., South Gate, CA. Affiliated with demolition contractor Interior Removal Specialists, the recycling company focuses on the recycling of often forgotten commercial interior demolition debris, and also a donation program that reintroduces hundreds of tons of office furniture and fixtures back into the community every year through their partnerships with dozens of non-profit agencies. About 30% of the RCI-certified facility's incoming material is drywall, so it relies mostly on ground sorting in order to recover the most material possible.

CDRA Member of the Year
Terri Ward, Vice President of Business Development, Sparta Manufacturing, has been named CDRA Member of the Year because of her tireless work on the association's Membership/Marketing Committee, plus the direction she is providing as a member of the CDRA's Executive Committee. She continuously promotes the CDRA in her everyday work. Ward, who previously served as National Sales Manager at SSI Shredding Systems, has been involved in the waste industry for 30 years.

All the award winners will be honored as part of the CDRA's Annual Membership Meeting at C&D World 2019 March 9-12 in New York City.
