Alliance to End Plastic Waste to take on global issue

Initiative to work on solutions to reduce mismanaged plastic waste in the environment

An alliance of global companies will launch a new initiative to work on solutions to reduce mismanaged plastic waste in the environment, especially in the ocean. The Alliance will be announced Wednesday, January 16 (9 am ET) during a global, live internet broadcast originating from London, UK.

The global broadcast will launch the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, a non-profit organization. CEOs from across the global plastic value chain, including chemical and plastic manufacturers, consumer goods companies, retailers converters, waste management companies and partner organizations, will launch the Alliance. 

Participants in the Alliance include: David Taylor, Chairman, President & CEO, Procter & Gamble; Bob Patel, CEO, LyondellBasell; Jim Fitterling, CEO, The Dow Chemical Company; Laurent Auguste, Senior Executive Vice President, Development, Innovation and Markets, Veolia; Martin Brudermiller, CEO, BASF; Hans Von Bylen, CEO, Henkel; Jean-Marc Boursier, Group Senior Executive Vice President for Finance, Recycling & Recovery-Northern Europe, SUEZ SA; Priyanka Bakaya, CEO & Founder, Renewlogy;  Rob Kaplan, CEO & Founder, Circulate Capital; and Peter Bakker, President & CEO, World Business Council on Sustainable Development.

The Alliance will be the largest cross-value chain initiative of its kind with a clear mission to help end plastic waste in the environment.
