Kenworth Truck Centres of Ontario recently celebrated the opening of a new, spacious and state-of-the-art 40,000-square-foot facility in Cambridge to replace its former Kitchener dealership. Three hundred customers attended the Oct. 27 grand opening highlighted by a luncheon, a vendor fair and tours of the facility.

The new dealership location features eight drive-through service bays with enough stalls to service up to 16 trucks, including one bay dedicated for natural gas-powered trucks. It also has a 10,000-square-foot parts warehouse. The dealership is located on seven acres at 44 Barnes Road, about six miles southeast of its former location in Kitchener and less than a mile north of the Ontario Highway 8 – Macdonald-Cartier Freeway (Ontario Highway 401) interchange. The new location is in an industrial area that is closer to major fleet customers, including truckload carriers, food distributors and manufacturers.

Before building the new dealership, Vince Tarola, president of Kenworth Truck Centres of Ontario – coordinated with engineering and architectural teams to create a facility that greatly improves the customer experience and allows the dealership to quickly adapt to future business growth. The facility, which is triple the size of the Kitchener location, offers more room for service bays and parts inventory, a comfortable driver’s lounge with deeply padded recliners and workstations plus free WiFi, a drivers’ washroom, and an engine servicing and computer training lab adjacent to the service shop.

Tarola said the training facility helps Kenworth Truck Centres hire and train technicians to continue offering customers an outstanding service experience. There’s also another reason it’s needed. “When we spoke with our fleet customers who have their own maintenance facilities, the one thing we kept hearing over and over was their inability to provide their technicians with more training opportunities,” he said. “They just don’t have the space and resources to do it. That’s something we knew we could help them provide and we think this will further deepen our relationship with our customers.”

Kenworth Truck Centres of Ontario, which celebrated its 36th anniversary as a Kenworth dealer this year, operates eight locations in the Toronto area and one near Sudbury in Lively.

Kenworth PremierCare dealers, such as Kenworth Truck Centres of Ontario, help fleets and truck operators to maximize productivity by offering a full stock of parts and accessories, dedicated parts delivery trucks, expert factory-trained technicians, and mobile roadside assistance.
