SWANA announces Don Ross Director of National Collection & Transfer Technical Committee
Don Ross, Director of Operations for Tampa-based Kessler Consulting, Inc. has been elected Director of the National Collection & Transfer Technical Committee for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA). The announcement was made at the 54th Annual WASTECON Conference in Indianapolis.
Ross brings to the Committee 29 years of experience in the solid waste industry, with both private and public entities, along with serving as the Committee’s Vice-Director the last two years. After 13 years as the Connecticut Market Area Director of Operations with Waste Management, Inc., Ross moved to Florida to take over as the Solid Waste Division Director for the City of Dunedin, FL, overseeing municipal collection operations. In 2008 Ross joined Kessler Consulting as its Director of Operations spearheading projects relating to collection, processing, operations, training, safety, and program optimization. According to Immediate Past Director, Jim Miller of Miller & Associates, “The SWANA Collection and Transfer Division is fortunate to have Don Ross as its new Director. Don’s experience in all facets of solid waste management and his enthusiasm for the solid waste industry will bring significant value to the Division.”
Ross has had a career-long dedication to improving safety in the solid waste industry. He also serves on the Supplier Board of Governors for the National Waste & Recycling Association and is the Treasurer of Recycle Florida Today, Florida’s state recycling organization. He has formerly served as a Director of the SWANA Sunshine Chapter. Ross stated, “Over the course of the next two years, I plan to focus the Committee on advancing the science of waste collection and transfer with a goal to improve our industry’s safety record. At the end of every workday, we need to make sure everyone gets home safely to their families.”
