Eco-Catalyst announces solutions for profitable product End of Life (EOL) management
Silicon Valley start-up offers decision-making analytics software to achieve greatest value from post-consumption materials
Eco-Catalyst has announced its formal launch to provide software and consulting services to recyclers, materials recovery facilities (MRFs) and manufacturers for the design, tracking and optimization of their product EOL operations and programs for greatest profitability and sustainability.
“While recycling rates in the U.S. have climbed to 35% for municipal solid waste (U.S. EPA, 2013), the rate has been leveling off. For e-waste it is even lower, around 27%. Dealing with lack of data on material contamination, cost of collection, lack of regulations and volatile commodity prices are some of the key challenges for the dismal recycling rates. Eco-Catalyst was started in 2015 to tackle these challenges,” announced Ramesh Srinivasan, Founder and CEO of Eco-Catalyst, Inc. “Eco-Catalyst harnesses the power of dynamic market and operational data, economic and environmental analysis, and optimization algorithms that enable decision makers to achieve the appropriate trade-offs among quality, cost and risk.”
Eco-Catalyst solutions will first be delivered through “Performance Management for Product End of Life Profitability and Sustainability”, a suite of consulting modules combining real-time web-based and on-site work sessions, provided stand-alone or as a full series. The first modules being offered to recyclers and MRFs are: Data Management, Full Cost Management, Process Improvement and Procurement & Pricing Optimization.
Each module has been designed to guide customers through an assessment and understanding of profit opportunities in their own operations and how to successfully plan for and implement them in alignment with profitability goals.
“An expert in sophisticated supply-chain analytics for IBM and other leaders, Dr. Srinivasan has innovated what’s needed for today’s business and environmental urgency: the right data at the right time for profitable and responsible recycling,” says Pamela J. Gordon, author of Lean and Green: Profit for Your Workplace and the Environment and Senior Consultant at Antea Group. “Sparking a sharp uptick in reuse and recycling rates not only in the USA but also globally depends on the type of solutions provided by Eco-Catalyst.”
In third quarter of 2016, Eco-Catalyst solutions built on the real-time data and analytics being offered through the consulting services will be generally available as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The SaaS product has been in successful use in both recycler and MRF pilots for the last six months.
